A
funeral for a member of your family or friend is the most
difficult day of your life. Everything your family and friends
ever thought about a loved one is expressed on that day.
Whenever someone dies it comes as a great shock, sometimes the
death may be expected, but nothing prepares you for the
emotional shock of losing someone.
The
thought of arranging a funeral is not something any of us
would want to do. This together with the distress and
emotional upset, leaves the bereaved completely disorientated
and unsure of what to do next.
It is
for this reason that our funeral directors have been trained
to understand and cope with. We will endeavour, under any
circumstances to provide the bereaved with full and fair
information about all services we can provide and information
we can give.
The First Call
The
details for each funeral will be discussed with you in full by
the funeral director, you will have as much time as possible
to ensure the right decisions and choices are made.
Once we
receive your final wishes we will contact all necessary
churches, clergy, cemeteries / crematoria, etc. and inform you
of the final arrangements as soon as possible.
In all
aspects of the funeral arrangements our funeral director will
point out the procedures and legal requirements as applied to
every stage of the funeral.
The
funeral director who meets with you initially will be your
nominated personal consultant/advisor and will provide
impartial advice and guidance to you throughout the whole
funeral arrangements.
Costs & Charges
In accordance with both our company and NAFD code of practice,
the funeral director will provide you with full written
details of the funeral expenditure. You must feel happy with
the funeral commitment you have undertaken. Should this not be
the case, please
contact us and we will
be pleased to discuss it with you further.
The funeral account itself is, like the estimate, is divided
into two separate parts.
Funeral Directors Charges
- contain our professional fees and
overhead costs, these include:
-
Provision of a 24 hour a day call rota.
-
Provision of a purpose built, dignified private ambulance.
-
Our professional services in making the funeral arrangements
and arranging documentation and necessary personal
attendances.
-
The conveyance of the deceased to our private chapel,
restrooms and use of the same until the day of the funeral.
Disbursements
Disbursements are essentially fees that we pay out on behalf
of the family. This means that any requirement you have such
as flowers, press announcements etc, can be ordered and paid
for by ourselves, to be passed on to you by way of the funeral
account.
This can then be settled by one single payment rather than
many different bills to be settled by the estate. For the
purposes of the written estimate the funeral director will
estimate the appropriate cost of any disbursement.
However you will appreciate that we have no direct control
over these charges and could therefore be subject to slight
variations. Should there be any major alteration our
consultant will advice you accordingly.
Examples of
disbursements paid on a client's behalf include:
-
Cemetery/crematorium fees.
-
Ministers fees.
-
Church fees (where
applicable).
-
Doctors fees (for
cremation certificates).
-
Newspaper
announcements.
-
Catering.
-
Floral tributes.
-
Funeral
stationary.
